About

Faizus Amin
I’ve always been drawn to moments that feel like they don’t last long enough.
Glimpses of California started from that feeling. It is a collection of quiet moments I’ve come across across the California landscape, times when light, place, and atmosphere all seem to meet in a way that is hard to hold onto. For me, each photograph is less about documenting a location and more about remembering what it felt like to be there.
I’m based in Northern California, and most of my time with a camera is spent along the coast, in the mountains, or under open night skies. I find myself drawn to those in-between moments, when sunset fades into night, when the Milky Way begins to show itself, or when the ocean finally settles after the day. There is something about those transitions that makes the world feel a little quieter, a little more open.
Alongside the photographs, I sometimes write poetry. It’s a way for me to hold onto what the image alone can’t fully say, the emotions or thoughts that sit behind the moment.
This project is really just that, a personal journey through place and time, but also an invitation. An invitation to slow down, look closer, and spend a little time with these moments from California, maybe through a print on your wall.
